Product Description

Baicalin is a flavonoid compound extracted from the dried roots of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, a dicotyledonous Labiatae plant. It is light yellow powder at room temperature and tastes bitter. It is insoluble in methanol, ethanol, acetone, slightly soluble in chloroform and nitrobenzene, almost insoluble in water and soluble in hot acetic acid. Green in case of ferric chloride and orange precipitate in case of lead acetate. Soluble in alkali and ammonia, it initially turns yellow and soon turns black brown. It has significant biological activity, bacteriostasis, diuresis, anti-inflammatory, cholesterol lowering, antithrombotic, relieving asthma, purging fire and detoxification, hemostasis, tocolysis, anti allergy and antispasmodic effects. It is also a specific inhibitor of mammalian liver salivary enzyme, which can regulate some diseases and has strong physiological efficacy of anti-cancer reaction.
